Letter book, 1801-1809, containing copies of letters sent by Isaac Clason and John R. Livingston and principally concerning their prolonged efforts to prosecute a claim and collect reparations for the capture of the ship Nancy in the West Indies by the French. Recipients include Captain Howard Allen, Cheney Higbe, and J.C. Montflorence of Paris. Additional correspondence concerns the dispatching of vessels to and from the West Indies, sale of cargo, prices to be expected for popular trade goods, etc. Also included are detailed accounts of the Nancy and her cargo, and accounts for the ship Marquis of Sansdown.
